Work in Progress

Recognise the pose? I've changed it around a bit and when I find some time... maybe after baby is born and our big move, I'll finaly be able to add a bit of xXluvinlifeXx to it!

Well Toned

'Watercolour Nude'
24 x 32 cm
Watercolour on Paper
This piece was drawn from a reference picture of a real model. Mixing the colours for the skin tone was quite easy. I love playing with colours! My first thought was to add the dark shadow in the background but I didn't like the dark atmosphere. Her pose is quite graceful and romantic and I wanted that to stand out.

Portrait Study

'Deep in Focus'
21 x 30 cm
Charcoal Pencil on Paper
I set myself a life drawing study and decided on portraying 'hubby'. As he wouldn't keep still long enough (bad model), majority of his features are out of place or under scaled. Better luck next time. Or maybe I'll try a quick one while he's sleeping!

All Skin and Bones

'Copy of a Male Nude'
21 x 30 cm
Charcoal on Paper
I'm quite surprised at how quick I managed to draw this. All while babygirl was taking a nap! I think I'm ready for a live model... Where's hubby at???!

Out in the garden...

'Flowers of Blue'
24 x 33 cm
Watercolour on Paper
Loved going with the flow on this piece! It soothed my watery soul! Awaiting the next free moment I have to play with this medium.

Oh no not a naked lady!

'Copy of a Female Nude'
24 x 33 cm
Charcoal on Paper
We have been studying the human form at class recently and this was one of my productions. Hope you like. Not a bad start if I do say so myself!

The One & Only 007

'Connery... Sean Connery'
35 x 50 cm
Pencil on Paper
Yes he's my fav Bond! A fine actor along with Anthony Hopkins, wonder what they'd be like in a film together?! A bit like putting Al Pacino and Rob De Niro in a mix. Haven't seen their latest but it's on the DVD list! Hope I done Sean some justice with my portrail of him!

"I'm a model you know what I mean..."

'Male Model'
24 x 33 cm
Charcoal on Paper
Taken from Sarah Simblet's 'Anatomy for the Artist' book. I chose this model for the specific shadows around his face. I will be studying this book closer in future as it's a fantastic reference. Thanks to meeting Chuck Collins on my Redbubble site, he recommended the book to me!

HRH Piano

'Fit for a Princess (Oil)'
35 x 50 cm
Oil on Canvas
Many hours were spent starting and stopping on this painting. It was taken from a sketch I had previously drawn in sanguine. I am very pleased with it as it shows my progression and understanding of oil paints which are fast becoming a favourite!

Copycat!

'Version of Caspar David Friedrich's Original'
20 x 20 cm
Oil on Canvas
My interpretation of Friedrich’s original ‘Boat on the River Elbe in the Early Morning Mist’. I happened to like the painting while scanning through my art tutors reference books. Friedrich obviously had more patience than I did for the folliage in the foreground. First time doing a detailed mini painting and I got bored fiddling with the leaves, but it works quite well me thinks!

Clowning Around

'Kiddie Clown'
48 x 33 cm
Felt Pens on Paper
I was asked to design something to stick on a homemade ‘Penyata’ (excuse my spelling) you know the toy donkey children smash to pieces to get the sweets hiden inside! Fun to do!

Un Cafe Anyone?

'Caffettiera'
24 x 33 cm
Graphite Pencils on Paper
So wasn't in the mood when I started this. 2.5 hours later and it was a different story. Being creative certainly heals my soul.

Study VII

'Fit for a Princess'
24 x 33cm
Sanguina Pencil on Paper
This sketch is in the process of being made into my very 1st oil painting on a larger scale. I surprised myself with the result of this one. I draw what I see.

Study VI

'Rose Tinted Glasses'
24 x 33cm
Soft Pastel on Paper
Once back in the comfort of my own home, hubby out of the way at work and babygirl tucked up in bed for her nap, I decided to get out my coloured pastels and set up a glass still life.

Study V

'Gesso Study'
24 x 33cm
Soft Pastel on Paper
The same still life set up was used but this time I concentrated on the vase. After doing the charcoal study, I found this one a breeze and finished well within half an hour!

Study IV

'Carboncino Study'
24 x 33cm
Charcoal on Paper
Quite pleased with this piece. My art tutor showed us how to define shade and light. I can't tell you how over the moon I am to be finally learning how to use all my materials that have never or seldom been used.

Study III

'Cocco e Castagna (Carboncino)'
33 x 24cm
Charcoal Pencil on Paper
It looked so good in sanguina I just had to do it in charcoal!

Study II

'Cocco e Castagna (Sanguine)'
33 x 24cm
Sanguina Pencil on Paper
I reminder of the Christmas indulgences. "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..."

Study I

' Still Life Fruit Study'
29.5 x 21cm
Pencil on Paper
With the guided help of my art tutor I was pleased with the result of my 1st still life in YEARS!
My talent is there but it doesn't harm to enhance it, I'm learning so much more and will continue to learn and experiment!
